Go to your room and finish your homework. Mommy and Daddy are trying to fight here.

I'll let you play pretend family a little longer, but when the adults need to talk, it's time for the kiddies to hush.

And who's to say abomination isn't a good thing.

Quite correct, they are indeed evolution. The jury is still out but most seem to think they are an evolution of some sort of mole.

monkeys have opposable thumbs. I am quite content being evolved from them as it meant more effort spent in more important areas instead of developing them!

Well, at least we don't feel the necessity to scratch our armpits (or worse) in public.

Huh! Would ya look at that! I guess this blows your mole theory out of the water.

You have a radioactive cesspit of plothole failures for comedic relief.

We have a city.

Only due to our brain and dwarven brawn. Not to mention the fact that its more of an "alliance" city at the moment makes it just as much ours as yours. ;P Score: null.

Get back down into your cesspit foul creature!

I'm pretty sure that the Dwarves owe us more than we owe them at this point.
Again,

Living city. Or. Irradiated looneybin.

Damn human propaganda. If all the other races would just realize how puny you people truly are, the very name of Stormwind would be a footnote in the histories of the much older races. (Can't say older and wiser, because we supposedly have to look to you people for "leadership".)

Oh, I think you give them too much credit Rakeri. :) We don't -need- to look to them for leadership. Gnome-kind could have this whole "world of war(craft)" wrapped up in a bow if we wanted. It just simply doesn't interest us. Mutually beneficial circumstances. That's the only reason we've been there in the background pulling their coals out of the fire.

As long as we're keeping a tally, lets roll this train back a little bit, shall we? :)

Gnomes lost:
[ x ] Gnomeregan. More to it than that, but that's another thread altogether.

Humans lost:
[ x ] Strom. Though to be fair Strom was more or less abandoned...
[ x ] Alterac. Lost to Orc but there was some betrayal involved. Sounds familiar (*cough*Thermaplugg*cough*)
[ x ] Dalaran. Oh I know, I know but its still a neutral city lead by an inter-racial council. To claim it as a -human- city regardless of past and current political climate just wouldn't be accurate. Even if they finally do declare themselves an Alliance City, they still wouldn't be a -human- city.
[ x ] Gilneas. Another tragedy, yet not on the scale of Gnomeregan even though it was of their own making.
[ x ] Stormwind. That's right. It was sacked once and completely destroyed by the Orc. Completely.
[ ] Stormwind. Sure you rebuilt the city. A beauty and a marvel, yet for various reasons they've failed to retain hold of Westfall, Darkshire, and Lakeshire provinces. They still 'claim' dominion, but have done little about it. Cite the various wars if you like, but the fact still stands. In lieu of the final city to make this list I'll spare you the count of those last three.
[ x ] Lordaeron. Truly a tragedy of Gnomeregan scale and then some, I'll even add. Lordaeron, the crown jewel of Humanity. The symbol of their greatness and might. Betrayed by one of their own (doesn't that sound familiar *cough*Thermaplugg*cough*) to its utter ruin. A complete loss. Fair to say 95%... maybe pushing 98% of its population gone. A fraction of that recovered by the undead, but that still doesn't change that for the humans their fair and illustrious jewel is still gone. An utter tragedy. Interesting that we both lost these two pinnacles around the same time, and nearly under similar circumstance... and yet... we've reclaimed most of ours.

Where are you on yours?

Gnome: 1
Human: 6. Technically 7 counting Stormwind in the first war. 10 counting the provinces... but we'll say 6. You humans need all the help you can get. Remember that. ;)

As it is ruled by a Human, was founded by humans, and is primarily Human, I think Dalaran still counts as ours.

Also, You've reclaimed most? You've 'reclaimed' the doorstep, and you're barely holding that. Barely. It took you how long?
-So the Gnomes, who have one city, haven't reclaimed it. Against Troggs. Troggs. TROGGS and a few leper Gnomes/Onecrazyguy. What did we reclaim our city from? Orcs. Freakin' hulking demonic infused abominations of adrenaline and musclebrains.

So...who's winning? You've got no city, just a ramshackle staging point that's half irradiated. We've got our city back, plus, we've still got all of our towns and villages.

Yeah, we've lost a lot. But what does that mean? We expanded a lot. We were everywhere, and we ruled a lot until the Demons came a knocking. Demons who, might I remind you, are the apocalyptic kind who have ended hundreds of PLANETS. Yeah, we humans lost to the biggest of the bads, and we still came back for more.

You lost to troggs, and one crazy guy. We've had our betrayal. We avenged ours and made right our mistakes. You're still puzzlin' out how to get a guy out of a hole.

Humans all the way.

*browses over Kirin Tor lore*
Ah. I was wrong. I could have sworn there were a few highborne still on the council even after the whole sunreaver thing. I was right about the council however. They aren't ruled over by one, but a senate and their appointed leader is essentially a public mouthpiece... but that's neither here nor there.
I was still wrong in my facts. :)

"Most" was an overstatement, I conceed. "Some" would be more appropriate. Be fair here, its more than just the doorstep. :P We also have things fairly well under control. We're saving previously irradiated gnomes as we speak. Cleaning up sections as we go. We've gained solid ground and more every day. Initial ground gained, I'm not too proud to admit, with the thankful and welcomed aid of Alliance allies.

Yes, Troggs. A horrid and inferior creature. Even these in such overwhelming numbers can spell doom of any advanced civilization. Our fellow Dwarfs know this well, as should you.

The Troggs invaded so hard and so fast that the choice to irradiate has been described as a "desperate attempt" to kill them all. Things only become "desperate attempts" when we're pushed to the edge with a fine view of oblivion. Even before the reclamation began pockets of gnomes managed to hold out all this time. A testament to gnomish strength, resilience, and ingenuity.

All slights and slanders aside you've overlooked the heart of the matter. Even in the tally offered there was an expression a profound sympathy and a drawing to some equivalence. Human losses have been great. Expansion and progress, I understand all of that and their calculated loss but that doesn't diminish the fact that those are monumental losses. Some are due to mistakes and inadequacies, the same as with us, and others due to unforeseen circumstance. The same as with us. Loses for which I have great compassion.

Is it too much to ask the same compassion in return? Is our loss so meaningless?

But you can't afford us even that much dignity, can you? No, we're nothing but a comedic footnote in the greatness of human-kind. Something to be pointed at, laughed at, ridiculed, tolerated at best. Nevermind the invaluable support in weaponry, vehicles, and energetic troops we still provide. We speak and act in a manners deemed funny, silly, and ridiculous by human standards so why not overlook everything else we've brought to the table and instead put your boot to us at any given chance.

Why? Because we "amuse" you. Even the troglodyte goblins get in on the act, we account for so little in your eyes. Natural intellectual rivalry notwithstanding. Its really a wonder more and more gnomes aren't getting fet up with it. Another testament to your resiliency I suppose.

Plothole failures and comedic relief granted, we're also written, established, and fortified as the brains of this outfit; but even so we've still as much to loose as you in these struggles. Claim Orc and Demonic triumphs for yourself all you like. Nevermind that they threatened us just as much as you. Us, the ones standing at your shoulder and at your back, helping to make those victories possible. Referring to the dwarf and high elf there as well.
