Seriously considering transferring here

If you checked my profile, you can see I am from WrA. It's still a great server but of late I have been wondering if its time for a change in scenery. It certainly didn't help that WrA appears to be more opinionated and sometimes angry on the forums. I've been there since it began so I can see the subtle changes. But enough about WrA.

I'd like to know more about CC. Yes I'll roll an alt and check things out but I do have some questions.

Are there alliance guilds that hold events after 8pm server time? Is the server active during those hours? I'm mainly looking to RP consistently with a small group but something more in-depth than say tavern RP.

Also are the populations balanced in numbers and skill? Does one faction dominate in PvP? PvE?

Normally I'd just stick with WrA because even with some of my reservations it is still a great RP server. But do you know what made me seriously consider a move? All the IC stories on your forums. WrA used to have lots of that early on. Now its mostly just silliness. I miss the great writing and development of stories and characters.

Kalen, CC is a great rp server. One thing I love about it is most rp stories try to include as many people as possible. Even someone unguilded and new can get involved.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, things do happen later at night also. I suppose your point of view depends on whether you need to get up and work the next day. The Blue Recluse is our rp hotspot, so if someone wants to just drop in to visit or possibly get involved in stuff, they stop by there. Much of the time, people will be discussing ongoing storylines.

From what I hear, WrA has a lot of walk up rp, which we're short of. That may be a turn off to some people coming here and hoping to find that. It does happen, but not as often as WrA I think.

I think pve we are pretty balanced. PVP might be slightly tilted toward horde. There are some great horde pvpers, but Alliance also has them. Plus, we've got quite a few people working on world rp/pvp things now.

Walk up RP is overrated. Trust me, you are not missing much. Its typically very shallow and nothing substantial happens. Plotlines and deep character driven RP is what I am looking for.

I have family responsibilities so my regular hours are later which is why I asked if events took place later in the evening.

Heh besides the multiple IC threads on your forums there were two more things that made me seriously consider CC. Its PST so the game clock matches mine :D. And long ago I secured one of two names I generally use for my elf characters.

If depth and complicated plotlines be what ya lookin' for, CC be your place!

Well let's see now...most RP events are scheduled for around 6pm server, but dere be plenty of folks stayin' up later. An' dey keep draggin' me into t'ings way past my sleepy time, too! <glares at Erelyn>

PvE be pretty even on either side, an' da PvP tilts a lil' more towards Horde. Not dat dat be a bad t'ing, mon. <grin>

I t'ink ya be happy here, an' we be happy ta have ya.

*comforts Yotingo* I know, but if you weren't such a great rper, you wouldn't be in such high demand.

Kalen, a lot of people have family so they can't really do much until later. Join allianceooc and hearthstoneic when you arrive. If anything is going on people usually announce it on allianceooc.

Hope to see you in game soon.

Man these responses have been very kind and friendly. Not even one jokingly snarky response.

I'll check things out when I log tonight. Any other tips for someone new to the server (besides what I can read in the stickies)?

CC is very forgiving for new RPers, and has a fair bit of depth for the more experienced crowd. Level doesn't matter much to anyone. Just a few days ago I seen a level 13 Dwarf Pally and a level 85 Draenei DK in an RP fight/argument.

The players here don't seem to have an elitest complex, so if you want to play pally who uses a sword vs the iconic hammer, you wont get called for it like on other servers.

The guilds get a long well, and there seems to be enough flavor to go around. Good, evil, and a everything in between. My own AAMS is probably the most unique concept I have ever seen on any server. We have those that focus on RPing through PvE content, and some that like to mix things up in RP based PvP. The grim maw clan's recent offensive to take Halaa comes to mind, or the all out war in the barrens a few months ago. Back when I was more active it wasn't uncommon for RP raids to form and attack each other's capitals.

As Gentyl pointed out, our walk up style RP isn't that plentiful, but our guild, interguild and event based RP can be amazing. A lot of the threads on here reflect what is happening ingame, such as when the AAMS was contracted with deliverinng 100 exploding sheep as a dowery from a gnome to a forsaken. A little bit silly, but it was an amazing story (and yes, we physically had 100 exploding sheep to deliver ICly).

As an addon, I am not sure if the Feathers of Iron still host their tavern nights on Tuesday, but if they do, it would be worth attending. Dwarven district, 7:00pm server to ??? I believe. I just returned from a long stint out of game, so I could be completely wrong!

Also thinking of transferring, myself. CC seems like a nice change from WrA, which has recently proven to me it can be considered elitist on some RP points, yet loose an uncaring on others.

To save a thread about this, I have a few similar questions. Are most RP guilds active? Does griefing often occur? Are there any notable Draenei or Orc guilds available? Any sort of cultist guilds or groups?

There are a fair number of large RP guilds that are active, and a high number of smaller RP guilds. The AAMS, and I will use them as a first had reference, has relatively few yet we are almost always involved in some sort of story line or delivery.

I don't think there are any exclusive Draenei or Orc guilds, but that doesn't mean that you couldn't start one! There is a new orc guild on the CC forums, lost clan I think, that is doing a group leveling thing. They all started at level 1 and are exploring a story line around their 'lost clan' while doing all the quests ICly as a group. I had been given some thought of trying something like myself in my downtime.

As for cultists, if you mean guilds whose intentions are questionable, the LO alliance side and Modas Horde side come to mind. They are great antagonist guilds always looking for more members.

Best thing to do would be to roll and alt and get into our global IC and OOC channels that both factions use and ask questions. You will get helped, I can almost certainly guarantee it.

I must warn you to brace yourself if you decide to ask about RP guilds in AllianceOOC.

Thunder is known to crack, ominous music plays, people rush out of the open...

Scorched Earth on the Horde, as well. We're very new but we're VERY questionable.

As for snark? If you want it, I'll provide it! *cracks knuckles* Maybe it's best not to get me started...

Almost all of the RP guilds are highly active.

Greifing is rare and the majority of non-RPers on the server are very respectfull.

Theres a new orc guild starting up with some fun folks in it. You'll want to talk to Egar about that once he comes back from being sick. As for Cultists I can recomend a few good ones Horde side:
Shadows of Lorderon (Nuetral Evil)
Scorched Earth (Chaotic Evil)
Modas Il Tolar (Haven't talked to them enough to know.)

I haven't met enough allliance guilds to give a acurate acount of them yet. But there are many and they're all friendly.

As for other events, Conclave hosts a Sermon on Wednesday nights at 6 at the gazebo in the Cathedral District of Stormwind. Pia Presidium has a bi-weekly troubadour night of songs and story telling Mondays in Ironforge.

There's usually someone hanging out at the Blue Recluse among other places.

Stop on by and check things out.

I am new to CC myself and have found the atmosphere incredibly supportive and welcoming, especially Alliance-side. Horde side, channel talk seems to be a bit more toward the grumpy end of the spectrum, but people are still very nice and helpful. Also if you have an idea people seem very quick to jump on it and support it.

I am Adella Alliance side if you want to say hi. I've been out of game sick for a few days but starting to feel better, so hope to see you around!
