I will add a few small final notes, things which seem to keep slipping through the cracks: We are simply a single guild.
One fairly small guild.
A single guild, which has been the only organized group generally drumming up roleplayers specifically to defend against would-be organized, in-character attacks, presumably also by roleplayers or those who support their community. A few individuals also try to on occasion, but response tends to be underwhelming.
In this, we had followed a specific set of rules in order to make it as "easy" for the relatively specific groups of Alliance guilds to play along as possible: no RealID spying. No spying in general. No corpse-camping. Always drop back to let the other side gather and usually attempt the first attack, as shortly as it may be allowed to last. If they try to run, usually allow it.
This is not, and has never been, about World PvP as a whole.
Hold on. Let me repeat that.
This is not about World PvP as a whole.
This is also not about World PvP as a whole.
And again, it's not about World PvP as a whole.
It's about relatively organized RP-PvP that happens to be out in the world. We have absolutely nothing to do with other individuals who opt to engage in roleplayed combat on their own, outside of such relatively organized events, in this context. The actions of others are their own, and other RPers act as they will.
While we would like to encourage open World PvP, as it is fun, that would take the efforts of a greater Horde and guilds with more reach and focus towards that specifically. We were only concerned with trying to make such RPvP events enjoyable for the Hearth-and-HOOC community, speaking in generalities.
Who ever said any one guild could control World PvP on a server like this? People do as they will. We do not, and cannot possibly, speak for the hundreds or thousands of general players who are among the Horde. That is an absurd concept.
That bears repeating as well.
We don't speak for the Horde as a whole, nor have we ever. Just for a fairly small guild organizing a few roleplayers into a defense against occasional attacks - it was basically an intriguing, engaging, and fun event for us, win or lose.
As Eslyn just stated, and as has been said repeatedly, there simply are not the people available to drag up defenses constantly nor consistently throughout the week. The RP populace often has other things lined up to do if given no forewarning, and frankly, so do we.
We absolutely invite and encourage others to take up the defense instead.
