That's more like neutral evil. Chaotic neutral characters are more... insane. They are chaotic for the sake of chaos, no distinguishable motivation behind their actions. A good example of chaotic neutral would be the Joker from Dark Knight.

You've mixed up neutral and evil.

Chaotic neutral is honestly the alignment most people are. You and I are probably chaotic neutral.

Chaotic /evil/ is what the Joker is, those that run about causing chaos and all that jazz and murdering folks.

Though, I recall, chaotic neutral has also been used for the mentally insane (how do you apply morality to one who cannot control their mental state?). Not to say chaotic neutral *only* applies to the mentally ill. The Joker...I've always liked to think he isn't crazy and it is a perfectly logical philosophical choice:P

Anyways, I would suggest being secretive and subtle due to how hated warlocks are in the general Horde and Alliance (To a much lesser extent Forsaken and Blood Elves, and I'm not certain if Gilneans hold the same aversion). I might suggest gathering (whether physically or through an established location in chat) in hidden locations, whether that be something similar to the Slaughtered Lamb or Cleft of Shadows (for a place within a city) or to make use of a location outside the prying eyes of the guards (Deadwind Pass certainly comes to mind for me).

Hate to be off topic but is that really necessary? No need to belittle some of the greatest people I've known (not just for their RP ability) and some of the finest weavers of story to boot.

I apologize for my wording, there.

I didn't mean to insult anyone, rather meant to say that an immediate affiliation with the Black Hand Society would instantly lead most to believe that this new organization is evil, rather than neutral - and I'd like to include as many people as possible in potential RP.

Yeah, chaotic neutral is a bit of a wide alignment, heh. To be fair, I'm not much one for using alignments as descriptions anyway, they're so... restricting and not accurate << Mostly just work for the general idea, it breaks down when one gets too specific. Someone that might be considered lawful good by one is another man's lawful evil :p

The Joker... who even knows with him though >>

Gilneans are just snooty. Clearly, they do not care what one is, so long as they are snooty.

Understandable. I just felt it was painting us as...80s cartoon sort of mustache twirling "muahaha! I did that because it was the evil thing to do!" Something we are very much against. Sorry to have misunderstood you. Don't usually jump on something like that, I blame the Diablo withdrawal.

Though, I will say...while I feel magic is never innately evil, some of the "requirements" of demonic magic point towards well, lets just say a lot of "ethical flexibility". Specifically, the use of souls.

Trying to apply black and white to an object which is ultimately many varying shades of gray tends to do that. ;)

I agree it gives a good first impression of the character, but doesn't work very well when you start breaking it down to specifics...as do most personality measures, when you think about it. More a matter of comparison, I think. Symbolism when not everyone agrees on the symbolism.

Anyway, my ramble for the day. What will the name of the channel be?

Is that horde side? Because I was thinking ally side we could use DarkStone or DarkStoneIC as an attachment to the hearthstone. A way to speak with others of the same proclivities without broadcasting it.

If we keep it same name won't cause any confusion. But I have a warlock on Alli side as well Wallen, the worgen warlock.

Agreed. I always wondered why Hearthstone (H) and HearthstoneIC (A) have different names.
Pretty sure it started as just Hearthstone Horde-side, than whoever started it up Ally-side decided to tack the "IC" on the end (possibly to help avoid the random new person chatting OOCly in the channel).

Nah, it was started by Lurial on the Alliance side. The reason the IC is at the end is largely from familiarity and habit. The channel was based off two IC channels in her old guild, Amani Shando, and those channels both had "IC" on the end of them. As such, it likely never crossed her mind not to include them.

Not sure who made the Horde-side iteration originally, but they likely felt the IC was not needed. (Personally, I think Hearthstone looks better than HearthstoneIC, and from all the people trying to RP in the OOC channels, the addendum to the end is only of marginal help.)
