FYRP: Shaw (Me!) is hosting Story Night @ The Darkmoon Faire from 8pm to 9pm-ish Tuesday the 3rd! just head to the boardwalk and hang a right behind the petting zoo.

This is an open, no-hassle rp event that is open to all. Stories are not mandatory, so sitting in is ok! It's also a good way of getting to know other Horde RPers in character.

Upcoming Locations/Dates:
---------------------------------------
5/10 - Razor Hill
=================================

Note: If no one gathers by 8:15pm, cancellations may occur. We'll go past 9:00 as needed, if not, open RP can start and the event will break camp - feel free to stay and RP afterward!

Greetings all,

For quite a few years now, I have been hosting the weekly "Story Night" aka "Tears Tuesday" Hordeside. For many, this is the first RP event folks see or experience. For all those that have come over the years, I appreciate you all taking the time to stop by and listen, being supportive and maybe share a story or two.

One of the cornerstones of RP is respect. As RP seems to be seen as the "Wild West" as far as any "official" rules, respect for others is crucial for the RP community to grow and have fun. We all are in a RP community, whether we admit it or not. It's also a social outlet as well, which means the respect part of RP is all that much more needed in working together.

I run a simple and civil rp event for a reason. The main goal is to have a no-pressure rp event and to have fun. The premise is simple - and was made like that by choice and design. A welcome event for both RPers and Non-Rpers to enjoy some stories and role-playing.

The event is an example that:

1) RP is alive on Earthen Ring (For the naysayers that think otherwise.)
2) RPers are people too, and some great ones at that. (For those that believe stereotypes.)
3) RPing can *gasp* be fun. (For those that think RP is a waste of time.)

All I do is host and organize, without those that come, it's nothing - so I thank you all. Thanks to the < Tears of Draenor > and the ooc rper channel forthehorde as well for the support as well behind the scenes. Also thanks to Ilemnemis for hosting the reboot of the old "Tears Tuesday" years ago before I was host.

Stay safe and Godspeed.

============= Story Night Mini-FAQs: =============

What is "Story Night" anyway?
This is a small, open and no-pressure weekly roleplaying event set up by the guild <Tears of Draenor>. Basically, think of a campfire (story) night with a Horde "twist", with folks exchanging stories and the like.

Do I need an invite to come? Or special handshake?
Nope! :) This is an open RP event, meaning anyone can come, though Sun Rock is not "Alliance-Friendly", so keep that in mind. So, bring a Horde alt and come join us.

Do I have to tell a story to come?
Nope! :) Feel free to sit in and listen. I try to make it as hassle-free as possible, so if you don't have anything - it's all good.

Do I have to roleplay or be a roleplayer to attend?
Nope! :) Roleplayers and non-roleplayers are welcome equally, so if you want to rp, cool! If not? Cool!. Just mind your manners! *wink*

What kind of stories can I tell?
Any story that can be told IC (in character) as your character. This could be a tale about your past, stories and folklore, tall tales from adventuring - even lore/history interpreted through your character. You can also take stories and such from RL and twist them around to relect the game's genre. Try to keep it within the establish canon lore when possible and within the game's code of conduct as far as language.

Same goes for songs, poems as well. There's old folklore that can be turned into childhood stories or stories told in taverns and during adventures. Have some creativity and fun and writing your own as well, or adapting existing ones for use.

Stories can be as simple or "epic" as you want, just keep them under 10 mins if possible.

What actual RP opportunities are there?
The event offers roleplaying interaction throughout the event, though a lion's share will be before and after the event. This is a good place to interact and mingle in character with other roleplayers and take in/share some character background via stories shared.

Stories of your adventures, events (both mundane and epic) can speak to the audience a little about your character's background and mindset. These can be good ice-breakers and conversation hooks to get to know others. :)

Even when the event is over, it doesn't mean the roleplaying ends! Stick around, see who else is about or head off with a group to another location to continue!

How would I have heard about this as my character?
ICly, there are postings at both neutral and Horde taverns/inn. It's also possible a NPC may have mentioned it to you in passing. The possibilities are open.

How long does it last?
We start at 8pm EST (server time), lasts until we all get tired :) Most times it's ran approx. 1 hour.

What normally happens?
Here's the "basic" rundown of the evening:
- Social talk until start. (This gives folks a chance to ICly talk and "mix" a bit.)
- Short welcome to all and event introduction.
- Announcements (A chance for folks to announce any events coming or related.)
- Introductions! (A chance to introduce yourselves if new or to others if old)
- Story Time! - Stories, songs and whatever else we get taking about. :)
- Closing words, if applicable.
- Social talk until everyone disbands for the evening. Stay! you never know when the RP goes "overtime".

Is that all? Where's the RP?
It may seem "lame" RP-wise to some - but it's what you bring to the table that matters. There is possible character interaction before, during and after the event. If you want to /w whisper someone next to you and start a conversation - that's an option as well.

Any sort of rules I need to follow?
This is a open event, so please respect others and try to stay in character (IC) as much as possible. Don't disrupt the evening by being rude or overly emoting/talking during a story - give folks a chance to talk. Some folks work hard on these, so give them a chance to tell their tale. You have to think of the group when having a group event, so it comes down to choices in conduct and roleplay. While "your" RP is important, so is everyone else's.

If you cannot be civil and/or disrupt the event with drama, you be asked to ICly (Or in some cases OOCly) asked to leave. It's that simple and no exceptions.

What about emoting or chatting during the event?

A good rule of thumb is if you can't see the story being told, there's too much emoting/chattering. Flooding a chat window makes it harder to enjoy the story being told.

Unfortunately, Farstrider Retreat is in the Ghostlands (Blood Elf starter zone) which was part of the Burning Crusade expansion. As far as I'm aware, you wouldn't be able to pass through the portal between the Eastern Plaguelands and the Ghostlands to get there. :(

Hopefully next time we won't have a Corran crashing the event to slaughter attendees.

Though that might have just been his way of saying "Hi!" to Deioth.

Just a reminder that this is tonight, so be sure to bring yourself, your stories... and even bring a friend! ^_^

<3 to Shaw for an on-going even that has brought so many RP'ers together for years.

Suggestion for future location:

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, or even done yet. Hearth Glen is now a friendly area to both sides, as it is home to the Argent Crusade. (I believe it may now even have a flight path?)

Could be a sweet place for Story Night!
