That's not really a weakness as much as a sign of being a hero. You'd have to be either a villain or goblin-like neutral in order to not care about your loved ones. Superman also has this problem, but the difference between him and Malfurion is that he also has Kryptonite which his enemies exploit against him very often.04/05/2014 05:37 PMPosted by SmoeWhile I agree with you that Malfurion has too much power than he really needs, he has a tragic weakness that we've only seen exploited once or twice in the course of the game. His judgement falters when it comes to those who are close to him and he's also not that politically adept.
I will admit that Malfurion isn't as powerful as Superman and likely can be hurt by common things such as rocks but it's really not enough. The main reason why I never got into the Superman storyline is because he's got all these powers and only one real weakness: Kryptonite. Because of that, if his enemies are not sporting Kryptonite in their arsenal, Superman will always win. Always. Same concept with Malfurion.
This is one of the reasons why I like mortals is because of the unpredictability involved. You ever watch The Walking Dead? Despite there being a list of main characters it's still believable, but still people still die at unpredictable times. The unpredictability effects me more than the actual storyline does.
If Malfurion was as powerful as a normal Druid, and despite being a main character could certainly die as easily as any normal mortal in Azeroth then imo his storyline could be far more interesting and powerful than normally. Because right now, he's one of the most powerful characters in all of Azeroth, and so the only way to stop him from obliterating the Horde is by declaring unreasonable neutrality, which has gotten most of the players upset.
I propose that as a solution to his problem of being one of the most powerful characters in Azeroth, we could just nerf him down to being average but still wielding a powerful heart and willingness of doing what's right.
It's been a while since I read the books, but I think when the Shattering began, Thrall traveled to Nagrand for answers and that was where he met Aggra, who at first was pretty mean and angry towards Thrall. She too was a Shaman working in Garadar. Don't ask me how, but somehow I guess Thrall found her to be attractive and they became boyfriend and girlfriend.04/05/2014 05:37 PMPosted by SmoeI flat out agree with you on Thrall though. He was taking the war out of Warcraft. Out of curiosity, what was going on with Aggra? I never really played a Hordie.
Then later when he was out saving the world, Aggra devolved into a caring and loving wife, completely devoid of her initial character, Thrall got married to her atop Mount Hyjal where the Dragon Aspects attended, despite the fact that Nozdormu was the leader of a hated faction in Vanilla who hated all mortal affairs.
After that, at the end of Cataclysm, Alexstrasza announced that Aggra was pregnant (which spouted off the whole "if Thrall was out saving the world, where did he find the time to get Aggra pregnant" arguments.)
Since then, the only mentions I've had on her has been about being Thrall's wife. Her entire characterization has gone down the toilet.
http://wowpedia.org/Night_elf04/05/2014 05:37 PMPosted by SmoeIt was? I thought they were elves before that too.
According to the History portion of the Night Elf page, Dark Trolls originally settled around the Well of Eternity and over time, they evolved into Night Elves. The page also speculated about how Elune could live in the waters during the day, but from what we know, it was the Well of Eternity that changed them. Elune could have changed them as well but we don't know.
I may have exaggerated a bit when I called her "heartless." But she was able to go out and slay any and all threats to her lands without a second thought.04/05/2014 05:37 PMPosted by SmoeI really don't remember her being heartless. Of course, heartless to me would be like her kicking aside a dead sentinel who just took a bullet for her while calling her useless.
She's probably not but most people complain about her lack of involvement in Night Elven affairs. I'm not the right person to talk to about this type of concern. Other people are likely far more educated on this matter than I am.04/05/2014 05:37 PMPosted by SmoeAnd I don't think she's fully subservient either.
