It was while you're in Darnassus, don't call our religion false. Which is fair, because you know, while the scope of powers may be "similar" (which is told from an ingame perspective, and subject to Velens opinion) we know from external sources, such as books, comics, and such that the Night Elves don't use the Light.

i don't know much about the lore, with that in consideration, don't the Draenei draw their powers from the Naaru, except the Shaman? So in essence, aren't the Night Elves similar to the Tauren, there is an aspect to be Elune's version of a paladain, but the Night Elves haven't tapped into that yet? Or found a way to do that?

I don't see it as Velen coming out with 'Your following a false religion' as much as 'Yes Elune is real....I believe Elune is a Naaru.' I don't think that negates what their religion teaches.

So, trolls do indeed predate the Titans. That's one circular argument that often takes place on this forum resolved.

Zomg, it happened.

Wow, the RPG isn't canon. That's... going to put a stop to a lot of our extremely pedantic arguments.

Also, something that really struck me as interesting: Death Knights MUST cause pain? This seems pretty new and an interesting direction for DK characters.

My sentiments exactly.

It also seems like my suggestion that the Wisps are lesser Loa (based on the Night Elf descent from the trolls) holds water. Maybe. Possibly. So many vague answers. So many threads on Elune to come.

I think somewhere in Story Forums.

Q: Are the Warcraft and World of Warcraft RPG books considered canon?

A: No. The RPG books were created to provide an engaging table-top role-playing experience, which sometimes required diverging from the established video game canon. Blizzard helped generate a great deal of the content within the RPG books, so there will be times when ideas from the RPG will make their way into the game and official lore, but you are much better off considering the RPG books non-canonical unless otherwise stated.

As somebody who collecys the RPG books specifically for the lore, I find this disappointing. I'm sure, however, that this question alone was the reason for the delays in getting these answers posted. I can't imagine the Creative Development team would make an announcement like this without first mulling over all the books to find what is of value and what is not.

As far as my personal philosophy goes, anything in those books is cannon unless seemingly contradicted by other sources, at which point I will come up with an elaborate theory that allows bother versions to coexist.

Ragnaros, Al'Akir, Therazane, and Neptulon are the only elemental rulers Azeroth has had in its existence. What this will mean for the elements of fire and air with the deaths of their elemental lords is unknown, but it most certainly is not good.

Oh snap. :X

The answers are archived in wowpedia.org. Unfortunately, wowpedia is down for maintenance at this time.

Metzen and co likely just got tired of constantly having to reference things that they likely even didn't consider canon anymore. It's just far easier for him to pick and choose things from the RPG books to bring into canon and even use them as guidelines sometimes.

Tyrande thanked him for his opinion, then cordially requested that he refrain from making such outlandish claims when in Darnassus or in the presence of Elune's priesthood.[/ul]

Why do Night Elves always have to be utterly pedantic until proven wrong? And then they go back to their holier-than-thou demeanour.

And why do Draenei have to be ignored like they do? They've been alive for thousands of thousands of years, yet they are almost always portrayed as naive and easily ignored. Velen alone was already old twenty five thousand years ago. I mean... come on!

I dont see the problem here. We know elune does not fit the MO of elune. The whole not using the light thing and all. She was not rude about it.

The irony is that Velen said pretty much the same thing to the Orcs on Draenor about Oshu'gun, and he was right, but doing so essentially ended any chance at peace between the Draenei and Orcs.

Interesting. So Trolls to predate the Titans, which is good because it resolves a circular argument.

And the RPG books are not considered cannon, which is also good IMO.

Interesting to see how Trolls and Night Elves are possibly related.

This was all good but it makes me wonder more when the final expansion will come because that has to be the expansion where we destroy Sargeras the titan that created all the evil in the universe. He created the Burning Legion and lead Ner'zul to enticing Arthas into creating the Lich King. He made the Sundering happen and made the Highborne turn to the ways of Blood Elves. He made the Orcs destory the Draenei on Draenor. He destroyed countless planets. That has to be the final expansion because every problem Azeroth ever had was caused by something he did. Any object of evil would be destroyed because the power that they use would be annihilated. That would be the expansion where we finally see every titan and help them kill Sargeras and I mean kill not imprison for him to escape but kill. This would be the most awesome expansion ever and be the finale to the great game that started it all.

I see what they did there.
