I was slightly surprised to log into the game today and find Dalaran full of PEOPLE. It's never been full of people before, usually it was just a few from our server and good old Jones in the inn. It seems we're now sister realms of a sort, in lower level areas anyway. So I thought I would pop in and say hello to everyone, because it's awfully nice to see people in low level areas again, even if they aren't from my server!

I'd offer cupcakes to all, but it's difficult to shove them through the various tubes and wires of the internet. But the thought is there. I swear. Cupcakes.

This strange rogue ran up and hugged me! It was WEIRD.

Would this be considered some sort of overlapping universes now, if we're talking RP-ishly? Or just extant evidence that we could all be a part of the same "world"?

Oh my gosh I hadn't even thought of how to address it in character. Once upon a time when my characters server hopped, I either didn't acknowledge it, or I wrote it off as some sort of alternate dimensional...thingy. Magic. I mean magic can explain a lot. But that was just me moving, and now it seems EVERYONE is phasing in and out.

Is it something we should acknowledge in character even? Or just quietly go about our business as usual?

I wonder if you can do sister realm RP events now. Huh. This is really bizarre.

Yeah, I was tempted to look up RP events on other servers, but possibly? I'm not entirely sure how many instances exist per se, or if its all just one big one or what.

But yeah I'm not sure how to teeechnically handle it from an IC stand point. I think in theory everywhere but Orgrimmar and Pandaria areas will be phased, so I guess we could just treat it as the cities reflecting more how they should actually be? I'd say if phasing issues crop up during cross server RP to just sort of write it off OOCly rather than try to shoehorn it ICly.

Also, we can have /IC/ cupcakes in Dalaran!

Yeah, I'm not so certain I'm a fan of the feature, just yet - and no, I won't be acknowledging anything changing, ICly. Cities are populace ICly.

On one hand, it's kind of nice. Tons of new faces!

On the other hand, I miss Silvermoon that wasn't crowded with folks from Wyrmrest. Our SMC was pretty nice, easy to find places to RP in without running into other people - it also may make finding an empty building in the open world difficult, because if low pop zones are being filtered together across zones, I imagine people will be using a lot of the same buildings.

But we'll see, I suppose.

See, I'm terribly happy about this because well ... my server is fairly quiet. Before today, I was lucky if I found a half dozen people in Dalaran, myself included! While I did enjoy my quiet time with Jones (the best kitty ever), it was awfully lonesome. I don't think I realized how much I missed the bustle of people until it came back with a vengeance. I haven't checked out SMC yet - largely because I don't really enjoy hanging out there, there's never anyone there.

...I guess there are people there NOW. So weird. But neat! LET ME LOVE YOU ALL

I think the cross-server thing is really neat, and it's going to be awesome to see how it all woks out. I was very surprised yesterday when I started to see people from other servers walk around.

I thought that they weren't going to touch major cities?

They only said it won't affect 'capital cities' - which I can only imagine means Stormwind/Orgrimmar, in hindsight, while I had thought they meant all racial capitals and sanctuaries.

Dalaran and Shattrath seem to be shared as well.
