The problem with that, Rage, is when it comes to houses or bases that people have actually changed from what you see ingame.
For example, if a 'house' ingame was the actual house a person was using, and not just a stand-in for a location that exists in lore but not ingame due to a far smaller game world than the actual lore suggests, then poor Dernes' house gets used by like, fifty different people.
I'm sorta of the same mindset with bases, too. While it can be cool to -share- an area, it sorta seems silly to have 'Ahh, here's our new abandoned keep, time to set up base -' 'OMG THIS IS OUR BASE GET OUT GET OUT FOREVER'.
I'dunno, it just seems prone to turning into 'no, this is MY area'. Without a lot of OOC communication (which, between Horde and Alliance players, can be difficult), it just seems hard to set up properly. You run into too many pre-existing beliefs conflicting with what you're being told, ICly.
As an example, Fenris Keep - Worgens of the Night used it ICly, till they were informed that the Forsaken basically ran the Worgen out of it, lorewise. Until they were informed of this, most Horde players were baffled as to why they were using it, as to them, it didn't make sense - of course, Aorune and co had no way to know this, because it's only lore shown to Horde players, through Silverpine.
Then you run into the same problem, but with RPers, if you say you use -the- ingame location, and you don't just use it as a stand-in. Same example, Fenris, I believe that the Modas had been using for some time? So both of them saying they use the very Fenris that exists in-game led to some... comical, silly mental images of them drawing a line through the center of the castle, and fighting over furniture - when, probably, the Worgen of the Night wouldn't have set foot in a Modas keep to begin with had they known. Maybe used the same in-game location as a stand-in, but not -the- same one, if that makes any sense at all.
Edit: Generally my reasoning for this line of thinking can be seen perfectly in Stormwind. It's supposed to house millions of people! ...Barely enough houses for all the RPers -we- have in it.
Also, Aro and Ra may set up a tea party out there and watch the Alliance fight, as the savage Horde is often known to do.
